I've been stopped by myself, Began to sound like someone else. Been going round and back again over the same old tunes, My mouth is wide open and I'm waiting for the silver spoon. So listen up, I said in my head. You gotta use what you what you got, and play like no-one else. I play a harp that's a start but it won't get me far, Gotta make this shit real but keep it straight from the heart. I might not be quite prepared. I write my songs on the day but I'm guessing that no-one cares. So if you see me on the street and you don't like what you see, like the Beatles said, just let it be. I've been stopped by myself, Began to sound like someone else. Been going round and back again over the same old tunes, My mouth is wide open and I'm waiting for the silver spoon.

I got my window open to let in the cold, so I can't blame these goosebumps on not wanting to go. My life is packed in boxes and my shoes don't wanna get clean, Was gonna buy some new ones anyway. Gotta write a song that'll make them wanna dance, Sell it off to people, that I don't even know. It's a weird thing how it all pans out, How on it's own it wants to go. I don't need to be, rich or on TV, all that going on, someone said it's not for me, but I guess I'll never know. My good little brother, he gets back from school. Takes off his glasses, plans what we're gonna do. His jokes aren't that funny, but they all work on me, sometimes what you got is what you need. Got all the things here that I need, All the things to keep me from a misery. Could leave them here, lock the door, throw away the key. This grass is fine for me, don't need another shade of green. I don't need to be, rich or on TV, all that going on, someone said it's not for me, but I guess I'll never know. I don't need to be, rich or on TV, all that going on, someone said it's not for me, but I guess I'll never know.

Got It Wrong 02:14
I don't know why the sun is shining, couldn't tell you if I tried But looking at you now, you look so fine. And I can see why the sun shines. Got it wrong but it felt so right, She whispers welcome to paradise. Little tussle, it's all a game. We don't waste time no, we don't need names. Pull this body close to you, Yes I'm for wasting, nothing to lose. Got it wrong but it felt so right, she took me home and turned off the lights. This is good enough for two now, smell the schnapps - blame it on the booze. Picked a fight with a solitude. This isn't romance, it's not the same, The price of winning is the cost of shame. It's a long diversion to getting home. To getting home, to being home. Listen to me darling I'm not kidding, just tonight will set me free. Listen to me darling I'm not kidding, give me sugar and let me be. Got it wrong, but it felt so right. And you'll be gone in the morning light.

Walk On By 05:22
When you're down, and you got nothing to do. And your friends, well they won't talk to you, And you're girl, she's found a new man. And he's tall, and you don't understand. Don't waste your time asking why, Just walk on by, walk on by. If you're skint, if the bank's being rude. Late for rent again, and you want some new shoes. Put on your best jeans, jump on a train Get off at the stop, where it starts to rain. Sometimes the bridge is closed, You gotta swim over, to get back on the road. Sometimes a yard can feel like miles. So walk on by... If you're weak, if you start to feel old. Not sure where you wanna be, not sure of your soul. If the rain, if it pummels you through. If you're own peace of mind is alone in your room. Don't waste your time asking why, Just walk on by, walk on by. Just walk on by, walk on by. Just walk on by, walk on by. Put on your best shirt, and jump on a plane. Walk down a street, where no-one knows your name. Unpack your stuff, into the sea. By up a boat, see what it's like, to be free. Sometimes the bridge is closed, You gotta swim over, to get back on the road. Sometimes a yard can feel like miles. So walk on by...

Oh darling girl, it's time you should know. Our little arrangement, it goes nice and slow. You just need your sense of duty, and I just need a sense of space. Tears can run down your face, but I'm afraid that I can't stay. She says oh baby please, I don't wanna go Lift up your arms, pull me nice and close. This is the only, this is my home to stay, this is my space between a rock and hard space. No don't waste my time, no don't waste my time. I'm not the kind of person to sing my songs fast, what I lose in the words I make up for in the facts. People are behaving like they aren't too good, I'm not talking to you now but I know I should. Honey, honey please don't draw me a line. I'm a grown man now - I go on grown man time. I've told you twice, I'm fine. Honey, don't waste my time. So tell me please, that it's the end of the show. I can feel fine, with you in the know. This is the way it is, my special lunatic, I'll get crazy high through the night with you ion this. Don't tell me your mine. Don't waste my time.

I'm tired of these tired walls, don't wanna go to sleep. Gonna grab all of my favourite things and leave. Ride a train to anywhere, 'til I like what I can see. Buy myself something that I don't need. Well I don't really feel like anybody else, but everybody else probably feels the same as me. She said pack your bags, you know exactly what to do. Do something you shouldn't and see it through. But the pubs round here are growing old and, some day so will you. So leave this town and see another few. I'm not gonna miss my bed or my clothes, but darling you know I'm, I'm gonna miss you. Mothers want you not to go but, Fathers say you gotta roam. Mothers want you not to go but, Fathers say you gotta roam. I'm up and leaving, this old place - I gotta go. I'm up and leaving this old place and finding home.

Whiskey flowers in a cotton field, You gotta be joking now. My brothers say you're lyrical, So sing me to sleep. I don't need a decent melody. Listen up lady, you got the strangest smile. The kind the gives away, more than it can fake for a little while. Write a book maybe, about the whiskey flowers. I'll read it on my own and I'll feel like home for a couple of hours. Whiskey flowers, stay in the ground. Listen up lady, you got the strangest smile. The kind the gives away, more than it can fake for a little while.

Her heart doesn't change in her bedroom, Her hair won't look nice, 'til someone said. It get's cold lying in bed alone. Said a lot doesn't change, but the clouds do. A lot doesn't change, but the rain comes. It get's cold, so listen now close. She's waiting for someone to cut her down, like a tree she gets naked, when it's cold. She don't believe in being alone. She's out tonight, out tonight on her own. He buys her a drink, takes her number. But I don't think, he's gonna call. He spills a double whiskey down her dress by mistake. Tells her that she needs to take it off, Tells her that she needs to take it off. They go back to hers, her and David. I've got a feeling that she knows, it's not his name. She cries, while he gets himself to sleep. Said a lot doesn't change. She's waiting for someone to cut her down, like a tree she gets naked, when it's cold. She drinks until she feels it in her stomach so much - that she can't feel her soul. She's out tonight, out tonight on her own. A lot can be said, for this lady. She plays the piano and knows, how to dance. She's got a heart, made of pure gold. But it's covered in coal. She's waiting for someone to cut her down, like a tree she gets naked, when it's cold. She don't believe in being alone. She's out tonight, out tonight on her own.
